Convenient Same-Day Crowns and Veneers
If you need a high-quality dental crown or porcelain veneer in a hurry, Dr. James Stein offers same-day crowns and veneers at his Boston, MA, practice. Thanks to his advanced in-office technology, Dr. Stein can repair or enhance your smile in one convenient appointment.
Advanced Technology
Dr. Stein’s office features the E4D system, which allows him to create extremely accurate crowns and veneers in a single appointment. Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technologies mean that your crown or veneer is planned, designed, and fabricated in our office while you wait. These restorations are made using strong, natural-looking dental porcelain. With the right care, these crowns and veneers can last for many years.
Benefits of Same-Day Crowns & Veneers
Same-day crowns and veneers provide a number of benefits for patients with a damaged or cosmetically flawed tooth. Patients do not need to schedule return visits to our office, or endure messy wax impressions. Additionally, patients will not need to wear a temporary restoration between the two visits required when receiving traditional crowns or veneers.
Same-day crowns and veneers allow for a single-visit treatment without waxy impressions or temporary restorations.
Why Do I Need a Crown or Veneer?
Dental crowns are traditionally used to protect a tooth that has become weakened due to decay or trauma. The crown completely covers the tooth to provide support and restored aesthetics. A dental crown can also conceal major aesthetic issues that cannot be resolved with whitening or other treatments. On the other hand, porcelain veneers are a strictly cosmetic treatment. The veneer is attached to the front surface of a tooth to cover cosmetic issues like staining, chips, or minor misalignment.
Making Your Same-Day Crown or Veneer
Creating your same-day crown or veneer is a multi-step process. To begin, Dr. Stein will prepare the tooth. If you are receiving a crown, the damaged portions of the tooth will be removed. The remaining healthy dental structure will be altered to accommodate the crown. If you are receiving a porcelain veneer, a small amount of enamel may be removed from the front surface of the tooth to prevent the veneer from protruding and looking artificial.
Next, impressions of your tooth will be made using digital technology. This information is sent directly to the milling machine. With this information, the milling machine creates your crown or veneer to the precise dimensions of your tooth from porcelain chosen to match the color of your teeth.
When the crown or veneer is ready an hour or so later, Dr. Stein will use dental adhesives to bond the restoration in place. He will check your bite to ensure that the restoration allows you to chew and speak without problems, and make adjustments if necessary.
