Dr. James Stein is a world-class dentist. I was referred to him years ago by a renowned periodontist because my mouth's challenges require the expertise of a highly trained, innovative and meticulous professional. For nearly three decades, Dr. Stein has provided me and my family with superior care. The emergency temporary bonding that he did on my high school daughter's badly chipped front tooth lasted for eleven years...

Since then, I have been back to the office regularly for cleanings and check-ups, and it’s always been a great experience. I trust the Stein Esthetics team completely and highly recommend them for high quality dental care.

What to Do during a Dental Emergency
Accidents such as trauma to the face or mouth can cause significant damage to your teeth and create long-term side effects. To save your teeth and protect your oral health, here are certain steps you can take when facing a common emergency:
Knocked-Out Tooth
Without touching the root, carefully rinse the tooth, insert the tooth back in the socket, and gently bite down to secure it. If you are not able to reinsert your tooth, submerge it in a tightly sealed container of saline or milk to preserve the tooth. Bring the container with you to your dental appointment and our dentists can reinsert the tooth in the socket if it is still viable. We provide a wide range of restorative dentistry procedures if a tooth is too damaged to save.
Fractured or Broken Tooth
If you have a fractured or broken tooth, place any broken pieces into a container of saline or milk. Our dentists may be able to bond the pieces back together at our Boston office. For larger fractures, a dental crown can be created and fitted in just one appointment.
Toothache
A toothache can be caused by an infection, gum disease, or a dental abscess. For toothache pain, take an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory and place an ice pack on your jaw to ease any discomfort until our dentists can see you.
